The Victoria is ideally situated just a few minutes’ walk from the golden sands of Holkham beach and at the gates of my family’s Palladian ancestral home, Holkham Hall. It is perfectly placed for discovering the county’s windswept coastline, seaside towns and villages.

It is arguable that our main attraction though is the food we serve in our restaurant. Our main themes are fresh, local and seasonal. The quality of our ingredients is paramount, whether it be shellfish, fish or samphire from the north Norfolk coast, beef from our farms on the Holkham Estate, lamb or pork from one of our farm tenants or soft summer fruit from a friend’s fruit farm along the coast and, in the winter only, wild game from our family shoot or venison from our herd of Fallow Deer.

You can eat in the gallery or our spacious orangery, which has views over the Holkham National Nature Reserve. All dining areas are dog-friendly.

Our dining times are:

  • Breakfast is served 8am-10am (for residents only)
  • Lunch is served 12noon-2.30pm (please note, pre-booking is advised)
  • Dinner is served 6.00pm-9pm (please note, residents have priority and therefore pre-booking is advised)

As per all listings on Dog Friendly Norfolk, we accept well behaved dogs.

Absolutely perfect for celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary. Staff were wonderful. Food was superb. Really good menu. Our room was incredibly comfortable, we stayed in Ancient House. We had a great stay. After years of visiting & saying how great it'd be to do our favourite walks & return to the Vic for drinks & food & staying over. It didn't disappoint.

We celebrated my birthday here with a wonderful dinner and a one night stay. This wasn't our first time and like always the food was great, the staff is very helpful and polite and the room is very comfortable. The room, dinner and breakfast package is great value.

Ideally located hotel and restaurant, however strange bell system at the door. Had to ring the bell to get to reception being greeted like an unwanted house guest and feeling like you had to justify your existence rather than being a welcomed customer. Our supper experience was damped by the amount of dogs in the restaurant, some barking, some incontinent (results of which were wiped away with napkins...). We asked to be seated away from the dogs but since there were so many this appeared to be complicated. The menu was good if not overly creative and it parts seemed to be trying too hard. The sole meunière was delicious the chicken supreme a bit boring. Starters were good. Staff were friendly however could have benefitted from a little more training. (When it's your third day in a hotel you would assume not to have to justify your presence at breakfast anymore every morning and to have the table set up up for breakfast rather than be presented with a dinner menu). Breakfast was lovely however here again a lot of dogs present which made eating with children complicated - permanently distracted by dogs, one of them took a dolly, child didn't want to be there anymore etc..) walking through the room required staff and customers to walk over a collection of leads on the floor. We ended up finishing a lot of meals early/ not ordering desert/taking our cups of tea to our rooms to be able to eat/drink in peace. All in all it was lovely but would have been a lot more enjoyable with fewer dogs and slightly more trained staff. In parts it feels like you are trying hard to be something but haven't quite achieved it yet....

The Victoria is such a special place. The food really is incredible, a menu that is regularly updated with fresh and seasonal food. A good selection to choose from. The staff are so accommodating and the service is very friendly, you can tell they are all passionate in their work. The decor is also beautiful. We love coming to The Victoria. Thanks for always making our visit special.

Visited for a light lunch on a Saturday afternoon, worried the restaurant would be packed out with tourists but was pleasantly surprised to find the restaurant fairly quiet. We just had starters of pickled trout and Thai fish cakes with a large Greek salad to share, the menu looked good with a good selection of dishes.
