Set overlooking the golden sands of Mundesley Beach on the North Norfolk coast, The Ship Inn is the perfect destination for eating, drinking and relaxing. Dating back 300 years, it is perhaps the oldest pub on the Norfolk coast. Using only the finest, freshest ingredients from independent local suppliers, our kitchen brigade create dishes with skill and experience. We have a giant beachside garden where food and drink can be enjoyed while you watch the waves crash and the sun set.
When you bring your four legged friend to our pub we also offer a dog menu, filled with treats.

3 weeks agoNot what I was expecting when we walked through the door. We were pleasantly surprised at how nice and bright it was inside. The beer garden has amazing views of the sea. We had lunch here and had no problem getting a table for 4 (on a Wednesday in August). Lunch was great and the portions big! Just what we like!

a month agoAmazing fish and chip shop. I'm not a fish person, so I had steak and ale pie which was delicious and could actually taste the ale. My wife had scampi and she said the scampi was delicious. And the chips were cooked nice and fresh and we're nice and crispy. We will be back when visiting in the future. Also had a great view over the sea.

2 weeks agoEnjoyed lunch here and a Sunday roast for dinner while we stayed in the area for the week. Great food, generous portions. Sat outside both times in the large garden overlooking the sea, little play area for kids and very dog friendly.

in the last weekDidn’t stay here but walked to Mundesley and needed a well earned rest and a bite to eat. We entered via the side door and there is a sign asking you to wait to be seated so we waited. The young lady approached us and when we asked for a table for five, she told us that she couldn’t accommodate us. I queried the two tables that looked empty and she didn’t seem interested in seating us so she directed us round to the bar to see if there’s any tables available around there. Fortunately we found a table for six in the Snug and ordered our food. We weren’t expecting much based on the unfriendly welcome however our expectations were exceeded tenfold. This place is definitely going on our list as somewhere to revisit. The food was delicious! We had the Steak Burger, Butternut Squash, chickpea and spinach curry with poppadom and rice, two portions of Cumberland sausages, and a BBQ Ribs. I would recommend The Ship Inn to people, however I do think it would benefit from some customer service staff training. We very nearly decided to go elsewhere based on the unfriendly welcome, really glad we decided to give it a go as it’s now Family on our list of favourites.

5 months agoWe absolutely loved our stay at The Ship Inn. The room was great, with an amazing view and fantastic bathroom. The bed was lovely and in all we could not have asked for more. The fish and chips shop that is part of the pub is brilliant and such a great idea! Sitting in the garden with the stunning view and the great chips could not have been better. The evening meal in the restaurant was fantastic, with massive portions and great choices. The gin selection was also brilliant. Breakfast was nice, although slightly odd that all of those who stayed had to come down for breakfast between 9-10. It was definitely a dog friendly location as all of the others that stayed had dogs, which isn’t an issue for us as we loved dogs. We would definitely come back, as I have a lot of memories from when I was younger in Mundesley and this was a great place to stay.
