We had a great visit and would thoroughly recommend eating here! The menu was interesting and varied. The haddock with curry sauce, scraps and tartare sauce was incredible, steamed chicken bun and scallops were also tried! The staff were super friendly and went out of their way to offer a great service to all. Nice touches of the chef popping out to check meal was ok, bar lady was superb (sorry didn’t get your name). Was also lovely to see how you looked after those dining, an elderly couple that you looked after whilst we sat at the next table showed such an amazing level of service! We loved all of the food and will definitely be back! Thank you

I never like to leave a negative review however, in this instance, I truly feel that this is justified. I have been visiting the Orange Tree regularly for 15 years. Over the past few particularly, the place has gradually been in decline. It’s no longer a pub, just a restaurant where you aren’t allowed inside anymore unless you are seated there. More and more outdoor seating has been added to a point where they may as well have just one large table for 100 people to share together. Tonight was the final straw. As a family, we arrived for an evening drink. We were passed a drinks menu and told we could sit anywhere that was not reserved. We took our seat and after 20 minutes of waiting, handed the menu back and went elsewhere. Sadly, after frequently visiting, tonight will be the last. Two other venues in Thornham offer a far better service, and you can go to the bar like a grown up. If you are going to charge champagne prices, offer a service to match.

A very nice place in a very quiet location. The room wasn't quite as spacious as I was expecting for the cost, very clean though with a very big bathroom. We ate in the restaurant on the first of our two night stay, food was OK but not a huge menu, very limited on side dishes to accompany the main meal. Staff were very good. Breakfast was lovely, great quality full English. Location is great, nice quiet area to get away from a busy week, lovely walk to the beach which is superb when you get there.

Decided to come here for dinner, and the service and food was outstanding! The waiter recommended a wine that worked very well with my meal. And the meal itself was absolutely faultless. Everything was cooked to perfection. The prices might seem high, but when you eat their food and experience their service you can see where all that money goes. I will definitely be returning!

We arrived for a drink on a scorching summer afternoon. We were greeted by a man who said it was his job to seat us outside and take our order. Despite there being only one other couple there, we were sat at a table in the full sun. My husband requested a specific beer and I requested a raspberry J20. My husband didn't know what he actually got but said it wasn't what he'd asked for and he didn't like it. Whatever I was given, it definitely wasn't a raspberry J20 and it was horrible!! We drank a few sips and left, going to a different pub where we bought a meal and more authentic drinks. We won't be returning to the Orange Tree.
