Great location for the high street down to the harbour in Wells. Friendly and helpful staff. Rooms were large however they could have been cleaner - floors especially were dirty and the coffee machine had to be cleaned out really well before using. However the water was lovely and hot for a shower and the cooked breakfast and continental breakfast items were spot on. We also ate here on our first night - the food was tasty and well presented.

We booked a table for Saturday evening. We were sitting in the snug which was a little isolated and I wonder if that was why we’re were continually forgotten about. It was probably 20 minutes before we were able to order our drinks. We also asked for water for the table. In fairness, the starters and mains did arrive quite quickly and were very nice. When the starters arrived there were no serviettes or cutlery. The waitress said she would fetch some, but we never saw her again. Eventually I went to the bar and asked for some and for the water, yet again. We also had to ask for steak knives. When we paid the bill, we weren’t happy paying the 10% discretionary service tip, as frankly, service was unacceptable. The apologies from the guy that we paid the bill to felt very much like lip service and to be honest we would have expected a bill reduction or maybe a complimentary drink. Lovely pub, great food, shoddy service.

Small double room was a little tired and dark. Backs onto seating area so you cannot have blinds open!!! Also bathroom needs updating. We were however offered a larger room and this was excellent. My thoughts on the bathroom however, although to a very high standard, I'm not sure why a walk in shower wasn't fitted as the shower is over a bath in the corner in a very large space!! Staff were very friendly and polite and service was very good.

Lovely place … very much a dog friendly pub & restaurant… the room was clean but needs an uplift and if we had brought a dog we’d have probably been a bit more nose blind! The food in restaurant was very good great choice.

Really lovely place in a great location. Loved the decor and atmosphere. The staff are all exceptional - bar, waiters and check in staff we really polite and friendly. The room was better than we hoped for and overlooked the green. We will be recommending to others and will stay again in the future. Many thanks.
