The Garden Cafe serves a wide selection of coffees and speciality teas which are locally sourced. Our lunch menu includes door-step sandwiches and toasted paninis with a wide variety of fillings. During the autumn and winter months we serve homemade soup and in the summer months we have a salad bar with new ingredients weekly. Our counter is always full of homemade cakes and fresh scones which are made daily.

We take cakes and treats orders, and we also have a venue for events, including weddings, wakes, parties and business meetings which we can also cater for.

For your dog: Fur friends are encouraged to remain in the Narthex, Cafe and Garden and avoid the Cathedral itself.

As per all listings on Dog Friendly Norfolk, we accept well behaved dogs.

  • Thrive Together we mean business

As a local business group we look forward to our regular breakfast meetings held at the Garden Cafe at the Narthex, many of our Thrive members say that the breakfast is the best in Norwich! In the summer especially, many people may linger after our meetings to catch up with each other in Cathedral's beautiful garden, where there’s outside seating as well as within the cafe. We have had many business events in the Cathedral's function rooms and remember fondly one warm summer’s evening, the event being in the garden which is a beautifully quiet and quite a secluded hidden gem. We enjoy having our events hosted by all the staff at the Narthex being safe in the knowledge that we will be well looked after.

This is such a beautiful, quiet and woke-free space. It is popular with those of us who like to be slightly cocooned from the noise and narcissism of the street. Streets that more and more seem to be comprised of illiterate legions of charmless people. Who imagine that selfishness and cynicism are qualities that add lustre to their poundshop idiocies. The Garden Café is a secret portal to a quieter, gentler and happier place. The only people with blue hair are ladies over 80. The staff and clientele might not pass the "woke" test, but they are, more importantly, awake to the moral necessity of showing kindness to people, no matter who they are or where they are from. The prices are very reasonable, the cakes are mostly homemade and taste of love and quality ingredients. Some people might say: "That the cakes are to die for". Unfortunately, I am not so patriotic as to swap my life for a slice of carrot cake. However, once you try the fresh scones, you will be more understanding of the stupidity of the sentiment. My respect to the staff, who work hard to keep the café and shop clean and happy. They are a credit to themselves, their families and the cathedral.
